Title: SlipStreamScapes I: Ruins at Virginia Tech
Post by Forum Admin on Nov 13th, 2006, 12:41am

It's been quite a while since I heard this piece performed. Being one of my first endeavors into the electroacoustic music realm as well as the first in the SlipStreamScapes series, it has always held a special place in my heart.

Following the long hiatus, this performance has encouraged me to revise performance aspects (namely tape/voice sync). Hence, this time around, the piece was coordinated using my RTMix software. Although, I am embarrassed to admit that it has been months since I last used it, I was also pleased to see that RTMix (even though its development has been on a standstill since 2004) still packs quite a punch when it comes to enhancing the cue-driven music by providing accurate coordination of performering forces.

SlipStreamScapes I: Ruins for mezzo and tape was performed by a junior Laurelyn Marin as part of the NASM/Convocation concert at Virginia Tech. Special thanks go to Prof. Nancy McDuffie and Laurelyn Marin for their genuine efforts to make this performance possible, especially given the short notice!
