Title: Singing Darwin
Post by Forum Admin on Jan 8th, 2009, 3:20pm

Last summer I was commissioned by Prof. Carol Burch-Brown to contribute interactive aural content to the Singing Darwin project that was funded by VT ISCE (http://www.isce.vt.edu). As a result, I released a simple algorithmic FM synth patch that serves as an introduction into the world of generative composition and consequently springboard into exploration of genetic algorithms. The original demo is available from the following URL:

(contains Mac .app file that can be easily unpacked on Win platforms and opened using embedded Max .mxf collective provided you have gigaverb~ (http://www.akustische-kunst.org/maxmsp/) external installed)

Enjoy!

N.B. This past Christmas, I finally indulged my family and myself in the wonderful world of Wii and Wii Fit. One of the first reactions to Wii's default menu music was just how much semblance there is between it and the aforesaid Max patch. Go figure...
