Title: Education Enhancement grant
Post by Forum Admin on Jan 8th, 2009, 7:17pm

This past summer I led a research proposal for the Education Enhancement grant focusing on incorporation of creative technologies into K-12 education. The project titled Interactive Taiji is based on preliminary gesture mapping work we've done in DISIS couple years ago and ironically comes at the heels of the unprecedented success of Wii Fit. The project is sponsored by the Virginia Tech's Arts Initiative (http://www.artsinitiative.vt.edu/) and is conducted in partnership with regional schools. Funding one undergraduate student researcher, one graduate student, and four faculty, as of January 2009 the research has resulted in new Max external (disis.aka.wiiremote--for more info visit the Max/MSP/Pd (http://ico.bukvic.net/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?board=munger_id) board) capable of communicating with Wii balance board. For a "teaser" video visit the DISIS YouTube page (http://www.youtube.com/vtidisis).
