Welcome to Virginia Tech!
Apr 23rd, 2006, 9:00pm

As I mentioned in my previous post, I have moved to Virginia on the New Year's day Roll Eyes to assume a tenure-track position at the Virginia Tech in the department of music and as part of the Cyberarts program (a.k.a. Collaborative for Creative Technologies in the Arts and Design, or simply CCTAD). It has been a bumpy ride since: moving, moving in, dealing with moving companies, claims, insurance, you know, all the good stuff. Although Virginia Tech covered the costs of the moving company, being a geek that I am, I opted for moving my tech equipment on my own via a U-Haul. Well, it turns out that I got a real clunker, so exactly at a midpoint towards my destination (approx. 200 miles), in the middle of a pile-up due to some accident, my truck with a trailor and my car on it decided to stall on a downhill slope. Let's just say it wasn't easy to make the darn bucket stop Wink. Luckily after the truck cooled off, it restarted and surprisingly enough I had no problems afterwards.

My new departmental homepage can be found at

I also have my own new personal homepage at http://ico.music.vt.edu.

I must admit I appreciate lack of traffic jams, amazingly clean air, the view and sunsets of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and perhaps most of all, the end of the rocky road of my education years and the beginning of a new life with my new home, family, and the newfound friends.

Welcome to Virginia!
