This solo piano piece holds a special place in my heart as it is the very first composition I wrote as a freshman attending the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati in the United States. It is in many ways reflective of my traditional roots when it comes to music and more specifically piano music. In part inspired by Rachmaninoff and Beethoven, it is a turning point in my career where I finally began breaking away from my predominantly traditional education and with it traditional compositional style. The recording is of the premiere by Marija Mozina as part of the fall 1994 composer’s concert.
