In the spirit of the holiday, allow me to share with you the disis.aka.wiiremote v1.01 release that is now available for download from the DISIS website (
http://disis.music.vt.edu, for the impatient, direct link to the download folder is
http://ico.bukvic.net/Max/).
The DISIS variation of the aka.wiiremote external provides Wii Fit interface with supporting documentation, and some code enhancements.
Special thanks go obviously to Masayuki Akamatsu for his aka.wiiremote external, Ji-Sun Kim for her code contributions, and Sabrina Killian for her research on the Wii Fit protocol.
NB: since the object is built upon the aka.wiiremote architecture, it uses OSX Bluetooth protocol and is unfortunately OS-specific. However, the source is included, so porting should be relatively easy. Please note however, in the spirit of the scotch tape 'n' bondo approach to coding we introduced one relatively ugly hack that deals with reading Wii Fit calibration data due to project timing constraints, so please consider yourselves warned if you do decide to dig into the code. That being said, the hack should not be volatile nor should it have any bearing on the runtime performance of the object. Also, PD version has not been built nor tested yet, so this may or may not compile for Pd/OSX.
Enjoy!
