This coming Tuesday November 21st, 2006, I will be giving a lecture on Digital Music at the Arts Museum of Western Virginia as part of the The Genius of the Place: Land and Identity in Contemporary Art lecture series.

Tuesday, November 21 - Art History Course: Contemporary Photography and New Media - DIGITAL MUSIC
 
These art history classes introduce you to contemporary art and new media as seen in the exhibition The Genius of the Place: Land and Identity in Contemporary Art and in the permanent collection. This is a wonderful foundation class for anyone who wants to know about the collection. This DIGITAL MUSIC class, instructed by Ico Bukvic with the Department of Music at Virginia Tech University, is a great way to learn how, after a century of experimentation, the advent of the digital medium was one of the most important milestones in the development of contemporary music. With its unprecedented clarity and transportability, this newfound technology played a vital role in laying a foundation for a new musical language.

*Enter the Art Museum through the Center in the Square entrance at 20 E. Church Avenue, directly across the street from the City of Roanoke parking garage. Take the elevator to the second floor and the Large Lecture Hall is directly across from the elevator.
