In my salvo of belated updates I forgot to mention this past summer's ISCE grant for the SMILE project. Science and Mathematics Inclusive Learning and Engagement (SMILE) is a large scale project involving faculty and staff across the VT campus and beyond. As a collaborating faculty, my role in it was coordinating music students who were building musical metaphors in a form of stylistically adapted tunes geared towards underrepresented population groups of the Appalachian region.
